My name is Michael Grogan and I am a legally blind lay missionary originally from Seaford, NY now living in Philadelphia, PA. My mission is to have prayer meetings with drug dealers in gang members and bring them to Jesus through Mary. I have some of the roughest kids you could ever imagine in Kensington Philadelphia where people are literally dying in the streets overdosing on heroin. It makes the South Bronx look good... We pray the rosary and the liturgy of the hours and sing praise and worship songs and miracles are happening.
I would like your help to have small gathering of people who would like to learn more about our ministry and how they can get involved. I'm thinking that we would like to get around 30 people either through referrals or people who have heard me speak in the past or have made one time donations...
We need a small place that is comfortable and intimate to gather them. We would have this event in the evening so there would be a simple meal. We could also have praise and worship followed by presenting the documentary, "The Mud"... Afterwards I would give a brief talk and allow for Q&A. Finally we would have a time of prayer and an invitation to partner with us. I'm thinking the evening would be from 6:00 to 9:00 including 45 minutes in the first part of the evening for a meal.
Alternatively, I can offering a day of prayer for your Parish such as having me come and share during Lent. This could be any Saturday except the first Saturdays of the month as I have a locked in commitment on first Saturdays.
For this day of prayer, I would propose a day with holy hour, the holy sacrifice of the Mass and 2 or 3 talks. I can flesh it out a little more if you were open to the idea but I just wanted to see what you thought. If we did choose a date please also be willing to help advertise it so that we could get a good size crowd of 25-40 people.
This could be a good opportunity to do something beautiful for God together.
